Neurotoxins and Fillers

Pre-Care

Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior to procedure

  1. Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a 2 week period before treatment.  Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  2. Schedule appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event.  Results will take approximately 4-7 days to appear.  Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.

  3. Discontinue Retin-A 2 days prior and 2 days after treatment.

  4. Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area.

  5. You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Post-Care

  1. Cold compress or ice pack may be used, but be careful not to use excessive pressure as it may move product

  2. Avoid touching the treated area within six hours following treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin.  After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water

  3. Until there is no redness or swelling, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat, sun, or extreme cold for 48 hours

  4. Makeup may be applied 4 hours after treatment

  5. Do not perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 48 hours after treatment.

  6. For dermal fillers, try to sleep face up.  Arnica may be applied for swelling.

  7. Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment.  These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site

  8. It can take approximately 4-7 days for results to be seen.  If the desired result is not seen in 10-14 days of the treatment, you may need additional product.  You are charged for the amount of product used on subsequent treatments and touch ups.

  9. Follow up in one to two weeks.
