Pre + Post Care PDO Threads

PDO threads are absorbable synthetic polymer that is highly versatile. The PDO thread will biodegrade over a period of 4 to 6 months. The PDO thread will create micro injuries to the skin causing it to have a positive result on the dermal layers, for example, increase blood flow. Results from this treatment may take up to 3 weeks or longer for the treatment effect to be noticeable.

After Your PDO Thread Placement: To achieve the best possible result from your treatment, follow these instructions carefully. If you have any question or problems that are not addressed here, call our office, and we’ll be happy to help.

Normal Response :
  • Bruising, and swelling normal can use over counter arnica topical.
  • Most discomfort occurs in the first 24 to 48 hours. Place ice on very gently just in case of bruising.
  • Stinging, “pulling”, itchy sensation will decrease at about 3 to 5 weeks.
  • Post procedure discomfort medication to use: Tylenol - helpful for post procedure for 7 to 10 days.
What to Avoid :
  • Avoid heavy exercises for 1 week, this causes extreme facial movements.
  • Do not touch or wash your face for 30 minutes.
  • Do not pull down on face for 4 weeks.
  • Sleep on back for 3-4 days.
  • Do not chew gum for 2 weeks.
  • No facial massages for 4 weeks.
  • Limiting facial movements will help lifting threads to stay in place, so no dental work unless strictly necessary.
  • Avoid heat in treatment area like saunas, IPL lasers or radio frequency treatment for 30 days.
  • Avoid medication that affect the blood clotting effects like fish oils, vitamin's C, A & E for 7 days.

If you experience increased redness, swelling, pain at injection or thread coming out in area, please notify the office Lifting treads do require more things to avoid than just smooth and twisted.

Pre + Post Care Neurotoxins and Fillers

Pre-Care
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a 2 week period before treatment.  Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Schedule appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event.  Results will take approximately 4-7 days to appear.  Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.
  • Discontinue Retin-A 2 days prior and 2 days after treatment.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area.
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Post-Care
  • Cold compress or ice pack may be used, but be careful not to use excessive pressure as it may move product.
  • Avoid touching the treated area within six hours following treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin.  After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
  • Until there is no redness or swelling, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat, sun, or extreme cold for 48 hours.
  • Makeup may be applied 4 hours after treatment.
  • Do not perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 48 hours after treatment.
  • For dermal fillers, try to sleep face up.  Arnica may be applied for swelling.
  • It can take approximately 4-7 days for results to be seen.  If the desired result is not seen in 10-14 days of the treatment, you may need additional product.  You are charged for the amount of product used on subsequent treatments and touch ups.
  • Follow up in one to two weeks.

Pre + Post Care PRP Microneedling

Pre-Care
  • Hydrate – we recommend that for seven days pre-treatment you moisturize skin in the morning and evening, and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin and optimize treatment results.
  • You may be provided an antiviral prophylaxis 3-4 days prior to the procedure if you are undergoing a deeper peel, or have a history of Herpes Simplex to avoid outbreak.Topical retinoid therapy should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun, if you must be in the sun use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+.
  • Remove all substances from the intended treatment area, including topical anesthetics,hairspray, gel, makeup, lotions, deodorants, self-tanning products and ointments.
  • Do not use flammable products in the vicinity of the laser.
  • Do not use an alcohol based cleanser as this removes moisture from the skin.
Post-Care
Day of Treatment :
  • Face can be washed with warm water ONLY (no products!) 4 hours after treatment. However waiting until bedtime or the next morning is optimal. The longer you can wait to wash the better.
  • Avoid sweaty exercise within 24 hours of the treatment.
  • Avoid dirt and smoke such as sunglasses, cell phones to the ear, BBQ, and cigarettes to name a few.
  • Patients may experience some redness, slight swelling, tightness, and mild sensitivity to touch (similar to sunburn).
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight the day of treatment and the 2 days following.
Day 2-7 or until fully healed :
  • You will have sand paper like face for 3-7 days.  Do not pick or peel at dry areas.  Streaking may occur from the microneedling, but this will fade as well.
  • Gentle cleanser daily, no acids, retinol, or facial scrubs until fully healed.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight the day of treatment and the 2 days following.
  • Light mineral make-up can be worn on the face on day 2. No heavy make-up should be worn within 4 days of treatment.
  • All normal skin care can be resumed on day 4 or when skin has completely healed.
  • The sun should be avoided after treatment and a non-toxic sunscreen should be used daily on day 2 and the days to follow. Minimum SPF 30 with a metal content of 8-9% (ask us for options). Ideally, the face should be shaded from the sun for a week post-treatment.
  • Avoid waxing or depilatories for one week post-treatment.
  • Botox/Dermal filler injections should be avoided for one week post- treatment.

PRP treatment can be repeated after 4 weeks. It is recommended to perform 1 treatment every month for 3 months.
